Achli is a body of work consisting the family of my friends, neighbors, relatives in Old Dhaka and the juxtaposition of their past and presence. This work has collected photographs of the family albums. Mainstream media often represents the people of Old Dhaka in funny or light ways. The wit frequently replaces the dignity of these people. And human relationships are eventually overlooked.

Mohammad Rafiq is an actor who lost his two sons in road accident. Since then his wife never allows anyone photographing her, though she was once spontaneous in front of cameras. Kohinur Begum married Mujibur Rahman, an old resident of this part of the city. Kohinur’s mother-in-law was very supportive to adapt with the local culture.
Riaz represents current generation but he still lives with his parents in a joint-family. Recently many of them are going abroad for higher studies but the bonding of Dhakaiya families are still quite strong. They can not decide their careers without consulting their elders. The values of spending time with family is still irreplaceable which helps them to carry their identity. The modern idea of a family has not changed the unique rituals of costumes, food habits of house-hold interiors, and not even the ceremonies of cherishing intimate moments.
